The first choice commercial-grade telephony stack for Linux.
What is it? ELIPS Stack is a full-featured cellular telephony stack for Linux-based devices. It allows to add 2G/3G voice, video, data and messaging capabilities to devices such as Mobile Internet Devices, Smart Phones, Netbooks, Personal Navigation Devices or In-Car Infotainment Systems, with minimum effort.
What problems does it solve? ELIPS Stack gives developers a fully-supported route for integration and compliance. We all like free open source code, but integrating it with your own project can absorb a huge amount of developer hours. And of course the end result has to comply with international telecommunications standards such as those from 3GPP, GSMA and OMA, or the development effort will have been wasted. So ELIPS Stack actually saves time, money and secures your commercial opportunity.
How does it work? ELIPS Stack includes reference applications and UI, a Telephony Server 'daemon' and modem manager, plus modem adaptation layers for popular baseband modem chips or modules. The applications and the Telephony Server communicate by means of a set of open interfaces mapped onto DBUS IPC.
The Telephony Server includes the middleware for all 2G and 3G telephony-related features such as voice call manager, high-speed data connection manager, messaging manager (SMS, EMS and MMS), video call manager and 3GH324M protocol, access to (U)SIM, handling of (U)SAT commands, etc.
ELIPS Stack has been designed to be integrated into any Linux device with the minimum of effort and the maximum of performance thanks to well-defined interfaces towards other platform modules such as serial I/O drivers, IP connection manager, multimedia framework, security framework, power management, etc. A dedicated Resource Manager enables support for complex interaction use cases like getting a call through the Bluetooth™ headset while listening to music.
For developers and system integrators, ELIPS stack comes as a code package complete with Telephony Server API documentation and headers, as well as an extensive Telephony Simulator that allows parallel work on PC when hardware is not yet available.
Open-Plug provides a range of professional services leveraging its leading-edge expertise in support of your integration and validation of telephony features into your devices. Our experts can support you end-to-end from project kickoff to commercial launch.
ELIPS Stack is the leading choice for companies who want support and proven, market-ready telephony functionality for their next Linux-based mobile handset or cellular-enabled device.
